Availability of Police Records

Certain information contained in police records may not be available for public release, per Colorado statutes. These include:

  • At-risk adults
  • Juveniles
  • Sex assaults
  • Child abuse
  • Ongoing police investigations

Most police reports require an approval process that may take up to 5 business days per Colorado Statute limitations.

 

Traffic accidents:

Many traffic accident reports can be released immediately, provided there were no serious injuries to any person involved.  Injury-related accident requests require an approval process and may take up to five business days.

 

Photographs:

Processing times vary depending on number of photos requested.

 

911 recordings:

Require an additional fee for processing on a CD, and require up to five business days.

 

Videos:

Require an additional fee for processing on a CD/DVD and require up to five business days.
