Free workshops on biking & transit

Join the City of Lakewood, in partnership with Bicycle Colorado, for fun, free summer workshops on bicycling and riding the bus or light rail – all forms of transportation that will help protect our air quality and reduce traffic congestion.

The workshops will cover topics of interest to participants and could include rules of the road, bicycle maintenance, finding bicycle and bus routes and other public transit logistics. Then join one of our group rides to get the practice and experience to feel more confident in choosing one of these forms of transportation over your car this summer.

The workshops and group rides listed below are part of Save the ’Zone, an initiative of Bicycle Colorado and Lakewood to educate and encourage residents and employees to help improve Lakewood’s air quality by reducing trips involving only one person in a car.

The initiative is working to reach 1,200 Lakewood residents and employees through programs designed to shift 250 daily drive-alone trips to walking, bicycling or transit. This lifestyle change can save participants money, make their neighborhoods more pleasant to live in and improve their health and outlook. More than 1,366 trips accounting for more than 7,615 miles have already been logged for the Save the ’Zone program. Sign up and learn more at
