Public Safety

The nearly 400 employees and more than 100 volunteers of the Lakewood Police Department are committed to providing the highest possible level of police service to our community. The LPD's mission "to serve and protect with integrity, intelligence and initiative."

RAIDs Online Crime Map

A public crime map, which connects law enforcement with the community was designed to reduce crime and improve public safety. RAIDS online software allows you to view and filter crime data in an interactive map and analytics dashboard to become better informed about crime activity in a particular area.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

Lakewood Police work closely with the business community to prevent crime. The Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design program (CPTED), allows officers and businesses to work together to address security concerns regarding the exterior of a facility. The purpose of the CPTED review is to create an environment that impedes criminal activity by improving lighting, mitigating obstructions caused by trees, bushes, fences and dumpsters which create hiding spots, and by using security cameras to monitor the property.

W.A.R.N. Network

WARN is a business crime prevention program offered by the Lakewood Police Department. The newsletter is produced monthly, and may include immediate crime alerts. The newsletter will include current crime trends, crime prevention tips and other vital information relating to personal safety and risk management. Our goal is to engage the business community in Lakewood AND the metro area to make communities safer and more productive.
